This is a student-friendly version of the Business Model Canvas. It is an excellent tool to help students develop and evolve the “plan” for an innovative project. It provides the structure to help students define and examine what they know about all key aspects of their solution, even while many of those aspects may be new ideas. Initially, students are led to determine aspects of their evolving solution that are critical for success but they may not have even considered. Once an initial canvas is developed, students can see how all the aspects fit together to construct a successful outcome. It is useful to determine which elements are based on proven models (someone has already done it that way) and which are proposed new ideas (what students see as a better way). Then, the team can focus on taking actions to validate each new idea, adapting where user feedback is not as expected and further building out where user feedback supports the new idea.
More support tools and instructional aids to go with this tool are being developed.

Here is one example of a student project using the adVENTURE Canvas at a fairly stage in their development process. We hope to get more student examples this coming school year.
